(B? T£LEGEAPH—PPIHSS ASSOCIATION.) ,r „ Lytteiton,' July 1. Mr. Samuel Derbridge, inspector of works for the •Lj'ttelton Harbour Board since its formation, died this morning 'in his 67th year. He was highly respected and was a prominent member of the .Church of England, Freemasons, and Oddfellows, and one of the* founders of the Lytteiton Fire Brigade. He leaves a widow and adult family of threo daughters and .four sons.' Christchuroh, July 1. Very genoral regret was felt'to-day at the news of the death of Mr. Samuel Derbridge, one of the, oldest and most respected residents of Lytteiton, and for over thirty years Inspector for the Lytteiton Harbour Board. The late Mr. Derbridge, who was in his 67th year, was born in Herefordshire, England, and came out to Lytteiton in 1885 in tho ship Greyhound, and went to tho West Coast, but shortly afterwards reLytteiton, where" he has resided oyer since. Mr. Derbridge lias assisted m the carrying out of most of the big works in Lytteiton and was engaged in the cutting of. the tunnel, and afterwards, under the late Mr. Martindale, on the construction of the harbour works at Lytteiton. When Mr. Martindale resigned his position of foreman of works under the Provincial Government -to become contractor for the construction of the breakwaters. Mr. Derbridge was appointed to succeed him, and held that position until January, 1877, when the Lytteiton Harbour Board "was constituted. He was then appointed Inspector to the Board; and held that position up till tho time of his' death. . Napier, July 1. News has been received of the death in London on June 30 of William Haviside Tvser, chairman of directors of the Tyser Line Limited. '
