SOUTH AFRICAN FODDER.
A CAPE 'PROTEST (by telegraph—press association—opyright.) ' Capetown, June 30. Tho Capo Premior (Mr. Mcrriman) and Dr. Smartt (who was Commissioner of Public Works in tho lato Progressive : Government) have cabled to Mr. Deakin, Federal Promior, that Victoria's attitude regarding South African fodder is considered distinctly unfriendly and may lead to unfortunate reprisals. Australian interests in cape ' COLONY. A WARNING. . (Rcc. July 1, 11.2 p.m.) Sydney, July 1. Router's Capetown correspondent reports that a meeting of representatives of Australian business houses trading in Capetown resolved to cablo to Mr. Deakiu that tho meeting is of opinion that tho Australian Government could with perfect safety accopt the assuranco and guarantee of tho Capo Government that tho foddor is frco from disease. Mr. Deakin is also to bo informed that tho prohibition has caused friction, and will, if continued, very much injure Australian trade with South Africa.
