ALLEGED BLACKMAIL. (BY TELEGRAM—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) London, June 30. At tho hearing of tho chargo against Robert S. Siovier of making threats to publish defamatory matter concerning J. B. Joel, tho financier nnd sporting man, for tho purpose of extorting money; tho evidence showed that Siovier received £5000, through Mills, a betting commissioner, who was negotiator between Joel and Siovier. • . Tho latter then gavo Mills a letter promising not to molest Joel again. Mills surrendered the letter to tho police when Joel laid tho information.
