CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
A mooting of tlio Wellington and Waivara pa. Charitable Aid Board was held yesterday when thoro were present Messrs. 11. C. Kirk (in the chair); F. Cohen, and A. Coles. The credit balanco, was statod to bo £2141. On the subject of charitable aid in conntry districts, the chairman said, that tho country districts were called upon to pay for charitable aid according to rateable value, 'without.consideration.of what was needed in their own areas. A larger, amount was collected in the country than necessary for expenditure 011 charitable aid, and this resulted in a tendency on tho part of local bodies to grant applications without the discrimination exercised in other centres. Accounts amounting to £565 2s. 2d. were passed for payment.
