The death occurred at : Dunodin. on Sunday morning of Mr. .J. A. Hay,' }LA., of the Audit Department, Wellington. j J Deceased , was the only son of Mr. D. R. Hay, now of Melbourne, journalist (formerly a well-known tailor in tho Octagon in the early, eighties). Ho hid a brilliant scholastic career.prior to ontering tho civil service. Ho secUrcd ».>. junior university scholarship in 1597, won. tho John Tinlino scholarship in 1900," took : his'B.A. degreo in 1901, and -gained the ; M.A; degree in 1902. Deceased followed the | teaching profession for some time,, but. even-' tually entered the Government scrvico. He . was only'2B years of age. Miss E.- Hay, of. the Government Life Insurauco staff, is a sister of tho dcceascd. .
