ANNUAL MEETINC. ■ Tho annual meeting of., the Wellington Bowling Club was held in tho-pavilion last ovening. . In moving tho adoption of tho report and balance-sheet (already published), tho Chairman (Mr. gratulated members on tho .position - ;of tho. Club. Ho expressed : miration at tho condition'of things wlion ho' returned from Engla'nd. When! ho'left'Wellington little had been done, on the site, but on his return he found the. pavilion erected, and overything in order, oven to finding his things in his locker. ' Tho 1 fiifatices * were such that members might' hope that at an early date tho Club would be practically free of debt, and in a position 'to - carry, out further works. Tho Club had added' to jts mortgago debt, and had an overdraft, but it was nothing like tho overdraft, ope inight have'expected under the . circumstances, , see-, ing that thoy had recently spent, somethinglike £2100. (Applause.) - ' ■' ■■■■' : ! .j : After tho report was seconded, Mr. Prior said that in reading over the report there had been an omission! Ho"^referred • to'.tho good work done by Mr. Briinskill- (sKretary) - and Mr.-Beny (treasurer),- who"'ha'd -done yooman service during the'. j"eaf. ; Ho thoughtthe directors might have 'seen that' ' somo 1 word of praise wero given - these gentlemen. - He advocated a system of friendly interclub matches —apart from those' played, for trophies—on tho lines followed-in Dnnedm.--He wanted to- tell the chairman-' a; secret. On Saturday evening a meeting of members, of the Club was held, and "something' hdd boon said to the effect that ' w'nat ; vras there would be antagonistic to;"tho .directors. He wished to remove tliat - impression, entirely, .and to say that they were ,a's loy&l to tho Wellington Bowling Club as" they could be. Ho asked that when general business was called they would be allowed .to discuss tho matter. The Chairman said that every opportunity would be givon members to discuss' business in tho.interest of the.Club.. . 1 ,The matter was introdticed' later by Mr". W'. H. Bennett. Ho stated;, that "it was strange procedure to receive with theof tho annual meeting the nominations" for tHo directorate, too' late ' for ';t|io_ hieinberß to nominate anyone to fill positions. Sir. Prior, in speaking to-the-pme question, moved—''That' this 1 meeting 1 expresses regret that longer notice" Of tho annual meeting v was not given tft shareholders/and that the directors be requested to take stops to amend the ' Association to provide that sufficient ' notice ' 'should be given.'?- j-.« .j--. This was seconded by Mr.,. N. 'Bell..; Mr. Sievwright was of- opinion thai,the motion should bo made .a 'recommendation to tho incoming .directors., Mr. Voitch said that it-was no -small matter, to send out 220 circulars.. ...,He'su'g-gest-ed that if a 4 circular; wero, sent,, oht, to members stating'that all subscriptions wore due on June 1, members could ' tsko it-for granted that the. annual..mesting .would.
