NAVY LEAGUE CIRCULAR.
— 1 ■ TRIP TO THE ENCOUNTER. Tho following circular has been issued by tho local secretary of the Navy Leaguo to the headmasters of tho eighteen school branches: "Dear Sir,—Captain Fylor, R.N., has invited the juvenilo members of tho Leaguo to pay a visit of inspection to H.M.S. Encounter, and has very kindly placed boats at tho League's disposal on Tuesday and Wednesday next for tho purpose. Petty officers o the ship aro to be detailed to tako chargo of different bodies of tho visitors, and explain tho working of the guns, etc. Can you -arrange to have your school members down at tho landing stago next tho Forry Wharf at 1.30 p.m. on Wednesday next under tho charge of some of your staff. After threequarters 'of an hour on board tho warship, tho yoiing people should hold themselves m readiness to re-embark ashoro. I tako this opportunity of reminding' you that tho illustrated .books-.for renewal, and now members, aro now availablo at tho Chamber of Commerces, also diplomas and bronzo badges for recruits. Boys and girls who may havo lost their badges can havo tho samo replaced on payment of 3d.
"I should bo glad to learn whether you have yet chosen the namo of tho Admiral or navigator (other than Nelson) to form tlio subject of this,'year's essay for the prize at your school. As already apprised you, it is proposed to present tho prizes 0:1 tho night of October 21 (Trafalgar Day), and ,it is desired that tho competition tniio place somo littlo time before then.
