i A NOVEL SUGGESTION. In the course of one of his humorous afterdinner speeches at the Dairy Show, Mr. Gilruth, Chief Government Veterinarian, suggested that if the uso of preservative wero prohibited in butter for Britain, tho dairymen could get over tho difficulty if they could find out koir to rob salt of its saltiness so that they might use more salt. Tho thing would pay, because salt, which cost a penny a pound, sold-r-as butter—at nearly a shilling. Whoever made the suggested discovery would find fifty thousand syndicates waiting to buy the patent rights.
