This work,was only part of a general scheme of harbour improvement-. .Thero was absolutely no suggestion ;of . applying the betterment scheme anywhero else'ill the harbour except .in .connection/with,;t lio Evans. liay .scheme.. The Council dealt with the Bill in committee. Mr. J. J. Devine, solicitor, advised , that Mr. 'Andre'ivatha'a ; claim for £250. as compensation for land taken for, tramwajt purposes would bo heard ■ at the ''.Magistrate'sCourt on July 15/' i Tho Public Works Committee recommended that' the c'orrect;l)uilding-lino bo adhered to in forming tho /foreshoro road from Karaka Bay to-the Seatoun wharf; that tho clectric' light poles oriftbe-foreshore road bo shifted from the centre of the nctf- street formation to tho; curb lino; that the tramway poles from the Seatoun tunnel, to the terminus bo brought into alignment.where necessary; and that the Town Clerk report as to tho surveying of tho Seatoun streets with a view to a uniform alignment boing adopted. The report was adopted.. : A report on tho alignment of the Seatoun streets, was discussed, and was referred to the Public Works Committee. Tlie Public Works Committco was instructed to go into tho matter of the further lighting of the borough as far as possible. Accounts amounting to £1050 Gs. wero passod for payment.
