Valima, Baltic; Moonlight, and Frotwork i jumped the double in front of the stand in that order. Nogi and Moonlight. commenced to move up in the run ffoni tlio town bend, but in the back stretch Moonlight struck a fenco and camo down. Baltic took tho lead at tho Taradalo bend, and the order over the grand stand doublo was: Baltic, Valima, and Fretwork.. Valima was done with here, and pulled up at the back. Then Nogi ran up into third place, and Fretwork assumed command. Coming round tho bend on tho way home Baltic made a faulty jump . leaving Fretwork a winner; by four 'or five lengths. Candidates who failed badly in moderato hack company at Hastings a' week ago camo. to liglit promiscuously at Greerimeadows.. The stewards of the . Hawko's Bay ■ ■Jockey Club had several ' opportunities y .to ask pertinent questions concerning tlio' , running of two or throe horses at their' mooting, but they overlooked the - matter; and consequently "the : Napier Park; Club's : handicapper was' set a rather Severe.
