' ..-■ " C2p3tO¥Jn, June 25. • The debate in the Orange River Colony Assembly on the Customs Conference's resolutions, in faveur of closer union (which include tho. calling together of a'South African Convention to draft, a federal constitution)', resulted in the resolutions being ad-opted-unanimously.
The Cape Colony and tlio Transvaal Parliaments . have . already passed the . resolution. Great interest now centi-03 in what the Natal Parliament will do. Tho proposed representation at :tho Federal, Convention is: Ciipe Coloni', twelve delegates; Transvaal, eight Natal arid Orange ■•ltiver Colony, five each. There is an -'putcry in Natal lor equal representation. ■,
At an early hour this morning a tire broke out ill a builder's workshop, occupied by Mr. H. Rountree, in Howe's Lane, olf Dixon Street. The brigade was quickly on tho spot, and tho firo was extinguished before sorious damage was done. . 'Tho overheating of a kerosene-heater was responsible for a small outbreak of firo in a six-r'oomcd house in Owen Street, occupied by '.Mrs. Isabella Lotvry,. at 8.58 yesterday morning; A quantity of bedding, etc., was damaged.
