PROVINCIAL ASSOCIATION, Messrs. R. "Bcere (Chairman), B. Green, C. Lawrence, J. O'Leary;.- J. - Hogben, A. Fair, and A. H. Kimbell (secretary), were present at a meeting of the : Wellington Lawn Tennis Association, held -in the Phoenix Insurance Co.'s -office,-last, evening. ■ A letter was received : from tho Wellington Steam, Ferry Go.s asking what tho intentions of the Association were in respect of tho Day's Bay ground, The Company said that if the Association was prepared to enter int-o a definite arrangement, say for four or five years, it- would--lengthen the ground. It was also proposed that the Sykes ball ba used at "tho next Wellington Association's tournament. The secretary pointed out that they were leaping in the dark in adopting the Sykes ball; which 90 per cent, of the. players had not, he thought, seen;'let-alone playod with.
