CULVERDEN ESTATE.

EXAMINATION OF APPLICANTS,

Christchurch, Juno 23. _. The part of tho provincial buildings which is occupied .by tho Lands Department was thronged to-day, by tho apnlicants for sections on the Culvcrden Estate who are presenting themselves for examination by the 'Board. Tho and about the buildingi particularly at tho Durham Street entrance, was an animated one. It is considered that over four hundrad applicants will have to bo examined in Christchurch, and the Land Board will have to hold very lengthy sittings in order to finish up on Ihursaay evening. Tho law makes provision that applicants' from other districts may bo examined by their district Land boards, and a large number of certificatei». from theso Boards liavo already been received in Christchurch.

DENTAL. HOSPITAL.

AN AUCKLAND PROPOSAL. . , Auckland. June 23. At a meeting of the Auckland Association ■ the question of the nefcd for a dental hospital in Auckland was discussed. A'Committee recommended the Association to ask ,tho Charitable Aid Board.for £250 for plant and an annual grant of £200 for a resident surgeon, and £50 for au attendant. Twelve (if possible, twenty-four) of an honorary staff were suggested. The fees proposed wore as follows:—Extractions freo, with gas, r, >, celnell t- and amalgam fillings, Is: to -s.. 6a.gold fillings, 55.; gold crowns, 10s.; and dentures, 2s. Tho Hospital would be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on all working days. Messrs., Rishworth, Carter, and Bennett wore appointed a deputation to tho Board. •- _ . DEVONPORT FERRY COMPANY. , ■ .
