ANOTHER BOMB IN INDIA.
THROWN AT A TRAIN. • nt telegraph—rnEss association—coPYalnnt. Calcutta, June 22. A bomb was thrown at a mail train near Barrackpur, about fifteen miles from Calcutta. . Two Europeans were injured, and a compartment was wrecked. FORCE NECESSARY, BUT HATEFUL. (Rec. Juuo 23, 10.15 p.m.) Calcutta, Juno 23. Addressing the Legislative Council at Poona, Sir O. Sydenham Clarke, Governor of 'Bombay, said it was impossible for the Government to sit with folded arms-when confronted with a ; deliberate organisation for indiscriminate murder, though the employment of force against a misguided people was hateful.
A description of the bomb factorv that was .unearthed in Calcutta after the Jliizaffapur outrage states:—The bombs were, of the latest pattern, and olcctrical batteries for contact work wore also discovered. It took a long line of carts to convoy the material seized to the police station. A library of up-to-date books on tho manufacture of explosives and a collection of lurid Anarchist literature and pamphlets preaching sedition have been secured.
