Tho South' Wellington and Potono Corps united, about.COO strong, and inarched to tho Cita. del, whore addresses of welcome were given by .Mr...Kirk,.for the soldiers of the North Island; Adjutant Neilson, for the bandsmen; Mr. Myers, for tho children. StnffOsptiin Ford, • who recently arrived from Sydney, to tako, charge :of tho New People's Palace, to be -opened in • about three weeks' thna,'spoke of tho social side of tho Army's work,' with special reference to the men, while. .SUfF-Csptain Hibbcrt added a few remarks concerning the women's work. Other speakers wsro Ensign Gardner, Staff-Captain Connie, Adjutant Newbold, and Major I-Told-away (who . presided). Lieutenant-Colonel and' Mrs. Knight suitably replied. During the eyoning music was rendered by the bands'/and the' Wellington Singing Society.
