ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
' A SUDDEN DEATH.. A sudden' death occurred in the city at 9.15 o'clock yesterday morning, when an elderly man named-.Wm. Hugh M'Killop died in tho Club Hotel from what is stj/posed to bo. heart disease. Deceased, who, appeared to havo neglected himself, had been in a frail state, of health for tho past three months, and had been advised to' see a doctor or to go into the Hospital for treatment, hut in spite of the advice, and tho fact that ho complained of being ill, persisted in bis refusal to have modical treatment. M'Killop, who is a married man, had been boarding at Jew's boardinghouse, Lambton Quay, since October 17, and soon after nine o'clock yesterday morning staggered into tho Club Hotel; _ which is opposite the boardinghouse, and informed one of tho servants that ho felt that weak ho thought ho would die. A cup of tea was procured for him, but as ho showed no sign of rallying Dr. Henry was sent for, but M'Killop expired soon after the arrival of the doctor. Tho body was removed to tho Morgue, whore an inquest is to bo held today. Deceased is reported to havo a wife and child living at Ohingaiti. For a number of years he was employed as a guard on the Government Railways. (BV XKUQEArn.—PEESS ASSOCIATION.) KILLED WHILE SHUNTING. Taihaps, June 20. J. H. Furlong, a porter at Taihape railway station, was killed instantaneously during shunting operations at one o'clock this afternoon. PAKEHA-MAORI DROWNED. Hastings, June 20. The police havo beon notified that a European, known onlv as "Bob," who had lived with tho Maoris for many years, was drowned in Lake To Hauke this morning through his boat capsizing.
A DERRICK'S FATAL SLIP. Auckland, Juno 20. H. Dorhe.r, a greaser on the steamer Cornwall, was killed instantaneously this' morning. He was working in the freezer when the big auxiliary derrick slipped out, and the wooden shoo crashed through tho skylight, breaking it.to matchwood. Tho end struck Dorhey on tho shouldor, and impaled him against the side of tho vessel.
HAWERA FATALITIES. Hawara, Juno 20. An eight-year-old boy named Leonard Good fell into a boiler of hot water yesterday," and died some hours later of shook. Robert Smith, aged sixty-four, an Okaiawa farmer, who had a rib broken and suffered other injuries in a vehicle accident, is dead. A FATAL FALL. Napier, Juno 20. At an adjourned inquest concerning the death of Duncan Kennedy, who died as tho result of injuries sustained through falling down the hold of the collier Kini, the jury returned a verdict that death resulted from a fall, but that " had tho hatchway fittings been in good order and condition "the accident would not liavo happened." The jury also further say that—" according to t-lio evidence the hatchos were not put on in the recognised way, and so further contributed to tho accident." FOUND DEAD. Invercarglll, Juno 21. An old man named Hogg, who lived alono in South Invercargill, was found dead in his house to-day. Death is supposed to bo the result of natural causes.
