Mr. John Burns, President of the Local Government Board, in trying to release men caught between two motor-cars, which had oollided, strained himself, while lifting one of tho vehicles. Ho has been soveral days in bed, suffering from internal pains. (Rec. June 21, 4.40 p.m.) London, June 20. Mr. John Burns is improving. Very early in his working career, when he was acting as a' foreman engineer on the Wost Coast of Africa, Mr. John Burns saved * drowning man at the risk of his life. He is a non-smoker, teetotaller,' cricketer, arid boxer, and rumour has it that he has quelled more than one conilict by usiDg his strength evenly all round.
