THE AUCKLAND DECORATIONS. CBY TELEGRAPH. —SrECIAL COimESrONDENT). 'Auckland: Juno 20. In connection with the visit of tho fleet tho elcctrical engineer (Mr. Wylie) proposes to light Quay Street along tho wator front with ten arc lamps, each of 2000 candlepower, capablo of lighting 440 yards distance. In Queen Street 18 arc lamps, each of 2000 candle-power, will be used botween Wellesley Street and tho wharf. Thoro will bo an arch in Queen Street at the entrance to tho railway station 50ft.. high, and with a span of 10ft. It is proposed to light this with two illuminated flags, the' Union Jack and the Stars and Stripes, 7ft. by 4ft. each, with 600 small glow lamps in each, flashing lights to givo a wavy appearance to the flags, and about 350 more glow lights outlining the structuro in different colours. The Government is sending up 2120 flags and 2130 electric lamps, and tho equipment used in connection with tho celebrations on Dominion Day at Wellington, including a map of New Zealand picked out in electric light.

The design for the portfolio to bo presented to tho Admiral is native foliage in inlaid woods. In ono corner is displayed the clematis and in another tho red kowhai. Beloiv is the yellow kowhai, and in the other oprner tho tea tree, tho whole of tho foliage being in tho true colours of the various native plants. In tho centre is a large silver plate displaying a view of Auckland Harbour, with North Head in the distance,, and a smaller plate beneath hears tho presentation inscription. Tho American Eagle, supported by tho flag of the United States, is worked out in gold at tho top, and corresponding below is tho city of Auckland coat-of-arms in gold. Each corner is embellished with silver ribbon bows, tho whole going to make a most beautiful and .appropriate presentation.
