FRANCES WILLARD'S STATUE.
A newspaper correspondent writes from 'Washington. that- no statue in Statuary Hall in the Capitol attracts so many visitors as that to Frances E. Willard. • 'l? er A is . t ', lc onl J monument to a woman m the Capitol, and Illinois is the only Stat® which has honoured a daughter as well as a son in tho Hall of Fame of America Every now and then touching tribute to her memory ;s paid by sightseers. Almost every day crowds of visitors stand at her shrino and scarcely a week goes by that some simple flowers are not laid upon the pedestal at her feet. For the last few days a bunch of red and white carnations, placed there by an old lady in an old-fashioned black cap came alone and reverent'to pay her homage, has rested on the marble base. The ■Capitol authorities never interfere with thoso who wish to lay flowers at tlw feet of Miss Willard."
