Shipbuilding in Scotland during April was busy, and' shows better returns 6n the Clydo' than for any of the previous months during the yfar. The total launches were thirty vessels of 43,870. tons, against 21,642 in March but tho figures show a decrease of 15,124 tons compared with April, 1907. Tho output of tho four months on the Clydo has been ninety, six vessels of 103,751 tons, compared with ninety-eight vessels of 16f1;14G ■ tons in 1907—a deoreado of 78,392 tons. The prospect cannot bo said to he improving.
