NO-LICENSE METHODS.
Sir, —I had the' pleasure of being present at tho public meeting in the Town Hall in connection with the No-License Convention on Wednesday evening. On the whole, the teaching was pretty sound, and ;>t a good few points inspiring. Mr. W. H. Hawkins; like the other speakers, is a- warrior whose valour cannot be questioned, but tho same [cannot always bo said of his nr;;'iments. After referring to a possible "Kilkenny battle" with a supporter of the "Trade," he said they were not fighting tho mon, but the traffic itself. I would like to' ask Mr. Hawkins whero the traffic would bo if it were not for tho men. Would it not be non-exist-ent? The "Trade"- means men, and its other spellings are brewers, hotel-keepers; publicans, spirit.dealers, etc. I would strongly urge Mr. Hawkins, and those who speak anil think as lie does, to boldly face tho fact that it is a fight against mon, men who are determined to spend any amount of money in every possible direction to frustrate all the efforts of the men who are trying to swoop from the Empire the traffic that Blights and curses wherever instituted. It cannot bo too clearly understood that tho battle is between men and men, representing different principles, as much as was tho battle of Waterloo.—l am, etc.,' : JOSEPH PRESTON.
