At a meeting of the Conciliation Board today it was intimated that the masters did not desire to givo evidence in tho engineers' dispute, and tho statemont was acceptcd. A conference took place in the matter of the painters' dispute,; it being represented that the recommendations filed wore in somo respects .different from the agreement arrived at by tho parties. ' The Board will next sit in Wellington.

Mr. Justico Sim asked when tho Shearers' Union- case was called on at the Arbitration Court, Mr. Darcy, who appeared for the Union, replied in the affirmative. His Honour: "I suppose you will call exports to. tell tho Court what tho ingredients should bo?" Mr. Darcy said it would be absolutely necessary to do so, and cooks would be called to provo the justice of the Union's claims. His Honour hoped that tho evidence would bo of facts, aud not of opinions. Mr. Darcy said that it would deal with solid facts; '
