Sho was successfully floated oft' again tho samo evoning, but in coming oil stripped her port propeller, and twisted her rudder. She • will probably arrive on Saturday, and leavo on tho return journey on Monday. Yesterday the coastal steamer Himitangi arrived from Foxton with about 500 bales of hemp for transhipment to the Athonic. Tho vessel goes from here to Picton and Greymouth. Yesterday tho Arahura arrived at Greymouth at 10 a.m., and was expected to sail on the return journey at 0 o'clock last night. Tho Kittawa is expected- to leavo Groymouth at noon to-day for Wellington. ' The trawler Sfora Niven, which arrived from Lyttelton yesterday, had to ho* towed into that port-on Monday, as one of.tho trawl ropes, got caught round her propeller. It was found necessary to procure a diver to clear tho obstructiou. It is reported from New York that a big four-masted ship, to replace the Arthur Sowall, will be built at Bath, Maine. The new ship will have' auxiliary power, and will bo the first square-rigger' built in tho United States since the Atlas was launched in 1902. Advices received by the Union Company report that the Hawea is expected to leave Lyttelton for Wellington, and on arrival to go on tho Slip for overhaul. _ Tho Kaituna leaves Lyttelton to-morrow for the West Coast. Tho Haupiri is expected at Napier from Greymouth. Advice was received from Westport by the Marino Department yesterday to the effect that the Hinemoa would leavo for Wellington via Kahurangi Point, as soon as the weather was favourable enough to allow her to land stores, otc., at tho lattor place. "Fairplay" of May 7 mentions a rumour that negotiations wore going on botween a steamship company in the South African trade and a steamship company in the- Australian trado, ' w itli a view to the absorption of tho latter company by the former. No confirmation of the rumour, however, was forthcoming at the time. i Tho Auckland "Star" reports that the s.s. Rarawa-withdraws from tho West Coast service at tho end of this week, for tho purpose of undergoing her annual inspection and overhaul, which will bo carried out at Auckland. The s.s. relievos tho Rarawa, and leaves Anokland for Onehunga on Saturday night next.' Captain Huntor'is in command of the turbino steamer Maori. The other officers of tho vessol are as follow:—Chief, Mv. Roberts; socond, Mr. Cuthbert; third, Mr. Govskye. Mr. M'Doiiald, who was chiof officer of tho Maori, is ashore at Christchurch on account of illness. . Captain Tate, of tho Hawea, was a passenger' by tho Maori from Zytteltou yesterday morniug.
