A PREMIER'S LITTLE GIRL.
The British Premier and his wife recently, entertained a brilliant throng of well-known people at a pianoforte recital given in their home by Miss Mabel Monteith, a young musician in whom they are interosted. This is how the "Daily Mail" describes the affair:— . , A demure little girl stood at the head of the staircase at 20 Cavondish Square, W., the residence of the Prime Minister. "So pleased to see you. ; May I give you a programme?" sho observed as she stretched forth ,a tiny hand to welcome tho visitors who had como to_ hear Miss Mabel Monieith's pianoforte recital. The little girl was Miss Elizabeth Asquith, tho Prime Minister's twelve-year-old daughter, playing the hostess in tho unavoidable absence of her mother. Miss Violet Asquith, tho eldest' daughter of the Primo Minister, a gracoful, fair-haired girl, wearing a picturesque blue Shantung frock and a necklaco of corals, was the real hostess of the occasion, hut her little sister, emancipated from the thraldom of gover-' nesses and nurses for tho hfternoon, insisted on tho acceptance of her offer of assistance. ,
