Tho cablo message just received shows that this match has been arranged. Ernest Barry is' regarded as the present champion of Eng- 1 , land, as ho. claimed tho title when Towns' failed to answer in time a challenge issued by him. However, Towns, who had twico previously won tho championship of England, know nothing of this challenge until too late. Ho will tak'o Homo with him a boat and sculls of his own construction. Whilst he had begun to train Arnst for his important raco, Towns hnd also accepted an eugage.ment. to prepare Fogwell for his race for tho championship of Australia against Thoroughgood. Ho will now have to abandon both these engagements, but Arnst and Fogwell, who aro both quartered at Towns' placo, have practically. agreed to seo each other through |lie difficulty by training one another.
