Accounts amounting to £252 18a. were passed for payment. Saturday's football matches resulted as follow:—Senior—Levin Wanderers, v. Shannon, played on tho Levin Park, was a win for tho Levin Wanderers by 13 to nil;. Mr. J. C. Burns held tho whistle. Hui Mai v. Moonshine, played at To Horo, proved an easy victory for Hui Mai by 21 to 3; Mr. M'Bain was the referee. Junior—Hui Mai v. Levin Wanderers A, flayed at Manakau, finished in favour of Hui Mai by 15 to 3 j Mr. Kingi Tahiwi refereed. Two other junior matches should have been played, namely Kia Toa v. Tho former match was forfeited to the Kia Toas, as Shannon could not got a team together, and the latter match was postponed owing to an objection being made to the refereo appointed. OTAKI. ' Tho football match, played at To Horo on Saturday between the local team and Hui Mai, resulted in a win for Hui Mai by 21 points to nil. Tho game calls for little description, the winners having all tho best of it. Disorderly scenes occurred among the spectators, and', as a result two havo been reported to tho Union. Tho Shannon juniors failed to put in an appearance against Kia Toa. 'Chinamen are steadily on tho increaso in this district, and it is estimated that they number over 100. This alone speaks well of tho fertility of tho soil, and, judging by tho enormous quantities of vegetables sent to Wellington, a good trade is being done. SHANNON. Heavy rain foil all Saturday night, and drenching showers, accompanied by thunder and lightning, fell during Sunday. Messrs. Fenwick Bros., of Kaiwaiwai, havo obtained permission from the County Council to shift their fenco on tho border of Tc Mairo' road, twelve feet on the highway, to enablo them to clear a gorse hedge, tho term of permission extends over a couple of years, and during that time it is proposed frequently to plough up the ground wliero tho hedgo crows.
