Australian Squadron. , Engineer Commander C. Broadbent has been reappointed to the cruiser Challenger, upon her' recommissioning, as a temporary measure, for two years' service on the Australian Station.' . ' ■ Tho new crew for the Challenger will bo drawn from the Mcdway depot, supplemented by drafts 1 from some of»the nucleus manned cruisers at Home ports. The ChallengQr when fully manned carries a complement of 475 all 1 told.
an ioia. i ' Two years ago two sloops, tho Cadmus and tho Clio, were dispatched from the Australian Squadron to Chinese waters on the reorganisation of that squadron and tho withdrawal of the battle squadron from tho China Squadron. " The sloops, which aro only good for, • and economical enough for, pottering about tho waterways of the Chinese coast's, are to bo recommissidncd for a couple of years' duty in that capacity. It was reported some time ago that thoy would be sent Homo to England, but'this disposes of the rumour.
