The locations, of Ministers to-day are as follow:—Tho Prime Minister at Taumarunui; tho Hon. R. M'Nab at Invercargill; the Hon. J. Carroll at Gisborne; the Hon. G. Fowlds en routo to Auckland; tho Hon. Dr. Findlay, the Hon. J. M'Gowan, the Hon. J. A. Millar, and the Hon. W. Hall-Jones at Wellington. . Mr. H. J. H. Blow, Under-Secretary for Public Works, left yesterday on a short visit to Rotorua. Mr. Justice Chapman left Wellington yesterday for Blenheim, where ho will hold a sitting of the Supreme Court. Tho Hon. G. Fowlds will leave this morning for Auckland to attend the annual dinner of tho Auckland Chamber of Commerce tomorrow night. Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P., left for Christchurch last night, to attend the -Supreme Court in that city. He expects to return tomorrow morning. Mr. H. C. J ones, of the Government Printing Department, and Mr. Slyfield, of the Postal Department, Auckland, have been nominated for election to the Public Servico Superannuation Board. To-day is the last day for receiving nominations. Mr. C. Holds worth, of the Union Steamship Company, has joined the directorate of the Wellington Patent Slip Company, in lieu of Sir James Mills, who is absent from the Dominion. Mr. Holdsworth is expected in Wellington towards tho end of this week. Mr. C. E. Carter, and Mr. Martin, jun., of Messrs. Robt. Martin, Ltd., who are leaving by the Athenic this week' to make an extended tour of the Old Country, were giveu on Friday evening last by the employees of the firm handsome presents as mementoes of the occasion. Bishop Camidge, of Bathurst (N.S.W.), who holds tho distinction of having solemnised the marriage of President Roosevelt, which took place in London many years ago, has accepted an invitation to preach a special service in Sydney on Sunday, August 23, on the occasion of the visit of the American fleet.
A Hokitika Press Association telegram statesEx-Captain H. L. Michel, of the Hokitika Fire Brigade for 27 conseeutiva years, also ox-prcsideut of tho United Tiro Brigade Association, and now chairman of tho recently constituted Fire Board, was entertained at a social last night by members of tho Fire Brigade, aiid presented with a beautiful illuminated address. The proceedings wero most enthusiastic, tho guest receiving many congratulations from all parts of the Dominion on his record term of service. .
During the performance of " A Royal Divorco" last night, the supernumeraries, who, although __thcy may not como prominently before tho eyes of the audience, fill a very necessary and important part in the evening's performance of such pieces as Mr. J. C. Williamson has recently given us in Wellington, took the opportunity of making a couple of presentations. Mr. Thomas, Foster, tho well-kpown and popular stage manager of tho company, was the recipient of a handsome sot of pipes, and Mr. Faul Latham, the assistant stago manager, was presented with a silver-mounted walking-stick. Mr. M'Hugh, in making the double presentation, spoke enthusiastically of the good qualities of the two gentlemen named. They wc-m not in the habit of making such gifts, but, because of the tact, consideration, and genoral thoughtfillness shown thorn during tho season, they determined to present some souvenir of their appreciation. Mr. Foster and Mr. Latham . suitably responded, and three cheers wero given by. tho supernumeraries for their chief and'his assistant.
