j Victoria bowling club. Tho iiuuial report of tho Victoria Bowling Club cingratulatcs tho members on tho hantlsanio pjsition disclosed by the balance-sheet. Duringthe year tho whole of the outstanding debentires (£115) have been redeemed, and a credij balance of £63 19s. 3d. is carried forwarctto the next year's operations. The lion, trasurer is complimented on their being no outsanding. subscriptions, and the club expresses its indebtedness to Mr. Mayer for his sorvros. There were 120 members at the beginniri; of tho season, but owing to removal aid'other causes the number on tho roll is nov 111. Tho directors recommend tho club to Jmifc the members to 110. Notwithstanding the vast amount of play and tho dry scasin, tho green woro extremely well, which riflected credit on tho Green Committeo. !The Club was represented at the Northern Bowling Association's tournament, hold at Auckland by Messrs. Godber, Redstone, Klith, Norwood (s.), Fossette,-Tattle, Scott, anl Snaddous (s.). Those players are congratulted' on the excellent position attained, ciming second in their section with eight wins and two losses. At the Now Zealand Association's tournament, held in tho samo morth at Dunedin, the Club was represented bj Messrs. Bary and Brackonridge (3)'. Mesrs. James and John Brackonridge succeodedjin gaining second honours in the pairs contest. At the commencement of the season it;was decided at a special meeting of members to withdraw from tho competition for- tie Edwin Feathers and tho Gisborno Cup. This was found'necessary, as, with a membershp of 120, the requisite rinks could not be spired without excluding their own members From the afternoon games. Tho Hill Pins and Diamond Buckles were played for on scleral occasions. Within the club, the Hamffton Badges, Townsend Buckles, Wells Stais, and Citizens' Life Badges were competed for throughout the season, and many interesting games resulted. The Hamertonißadges arc now held by Messrs. Kelly, Tattle, Fowler, Norwood (s.); tho Townsend Buckles by Messrs. T. 'Mayer and Scott; tho! Wells Stars, by Messrs;. Langdon and Varcce; and the Citizens' Lifo Badges by Messrs; Fossotto and Hemingway. Tho Club's prire competitions were this year 1 completed in pood time. Tho Senior Singles was won by Mr. T. Mayor; tho Junior Singles by Mr. Midely; tho Pairs by Messrs. Langdon and T Slayer; and the Rinks Match by Messrs. Yorboys, Thompson, Marks, and Mack (s.).| During tho winter months a committee coreisting of 'Messrs. Brodie, Keith, and Kitto arranged several social evenings at tho club-hiuso, tho interest in theso functions beinj evidenced by tho largo attendance of nembors. Tho . directors wish to heartily thank those members who presented prizes for competition, all . who have assisted during the year, and the Press for its very full reports of ail .bowling matter. A special voto of tlianks is due by tho directors and members to tho ladies, who, under tho guidance of Mis. Kitto, attended to tho afternoon tea arrangamcnts during tho year. Since tho closing of tho season tho Ground Committee has had tie levels of tho green taken, and tho; directors wish to put on record the valuable sorviios to the Club in this connection by Mr. H. P. Hanify. The directors wish to convey to Mr.' W. .J. Hueston their high apprcciati«n of his services as secretary to the Club. In accordance with the Articles of _ Association, all tho directors rctiro from office, but aro eligible for nomination without notice.
