The location of Cabinet Ministers to-day is as follows: —The Prime Minister and the Hon. J. Carroll at Gisborne, the Hon. R. M'Nab at Gore, and the remaining Ministers in Wellington. Mr. T. Hugo, who returned last week from ft holiday in Australia, will take up to-day. his new duties as inspector under tliei Fire Brigades Act. The Hon. J. Carroll will return to Wei; lington from Gisborne on Wednesday next. , Mr. W. C. Kensington, Under-Secretary for Lands, left on Saturday to make a tour of the Nelson district. Mr. P. J. O'Regan, chairman of the Wellington Conciliation. Board, has notified the Minister for Labour of his intention to resign that position, which ho has held for more than two years. Mr. O'Regan's reason for resigning is stress of other duties.

The death is reported from' Dunedin of Mr. John Stephens, formerly second engineer of the Union Company's steamer Flora. Mr." Stephens, who was a son of the secretary, of the Otago Harbour Board, had been a sufferer from consumption for two or three years., Mr. C. W. Hemery, the resident secretary at Hobart of the Australian Mutual Provident Society, is at- present in New Zealand. Mr. Hemery is on a seven months' holiday,'and ho intends shortly to revisit, his birthplace in Jersey, Channel Islands, and subsequently to renew his acquaintance with England and .the Continent. A Press Association telegram from Thames states that Mr. Alexander Whitley, manager of tlie Waitangi mine, has accepted the appointment of mining inspector,, of. the West Coast of' New 'Zealahdi 1 '■ '■ :L fe". Whitley is a manager with considerable experience, and has been associated with mines in the North and South Islands. He is 43 years*of'age, Tho appointment has given general satisfaction locally. •
