POLICE CASES. (Before Mr. W. G.' Riddoll, S.M.) Fredorick. Wilson, alias Whiteside, alias Whito Frank, was convicted and sentenced to two months 1 imprisonment for habitual drunkenness, and on a second charge of indecency was sentenced' to one month's imprisonment, tile sentences to bo concurrent. ! A young man named Win. Dudley pleaded not guilty to a charge of having wilfully obstructed Constable Havclock whilst iu the.. execution of his duty. Evidence was given by Constablo Havolock that ho was arresting a woman at the corner of Manners and Willis Streets, when accused came up and caught hold of witness's belt. Accused defied witness to take the woman, and a strugglo ensued, during which accused almost succeedcd in getting the .woman away. Witness jjave accused soveral chances, ; and advised linn to get away, but he would not take noticc of the warnings. His Worship impressed upon accused that ho had no right to interfere with the constable, whoso statements he now let go unchallenged. A conviction and fine of £5, and costs 45., in default 14 days' imprisonment, was imposed. The adjourned case in which Patrick Evan was charged with having on May 30 at Wellington indecently assaulted a certain female was advanced a further 'stage, and adjourned again until Wednesday. Annie Moore, charged with drunkenness, was convicted and fined 20S.J in default seven days' imprisonment.
