Frederick Shca'Jock Jones, who had been for ton months employed as third footman by Lord Plunlcot, was charged at tlw Police Court with theft of cheques, cash, and clothing, tho property of Captaijis Lyon and Hardy, A.D.C.'s, amounting to about £GO. Captain Lyon had placed an envelopo containing cheques for £44 and 10s., and about £8 15s. in gold and silver, in a drawer. Ho subsequently discovered that tho money was missing. Further investigation showed that a quantity of clothing belonging to Captains Hardy and Lyon was also missing. Jones confessed to the theft,. and handed over £8 155., but stated that ho had torn up tho cheques and thrown thorn away. Ho also admitted having stolen £10 from" the bullor'a office in April last.
