Christie* one-of the organisers of -the New Zealand Section of. the Tlieosophical Society, delivered an interesting lecture at.York Chambers,' Manners Street, entitled "The Goal of Humanity."* .Thoro was a fair attendance, and tho lecturer kent the audience closely interested for'upwards of an hour. She referred to the great work beforo • the Theosophical Society, and pointed out that already tho teachings'were permeating many of tho religious societies. The sermons of •Canon Wilborforce and Rev. R. J. Campbell contained many of tho Theosophical Society's teaohings, and tho • whole Christian world was'becoming broader in its ideals; : The great necessity for tolerance was , touched upon) and _ the great results which would accrue from its adoption pointed out.:---The groat ggnl of humanity was God. It was the .logical conclusion of an evolution- ■ ary schome of which man was a part. . The masters who were said to he working bohind . the.'great .religions of the world, and all spiritual movements, wore dwelt upon,'and : their .'relationship to the work of assisting mankind explained. Tho first object of tho Society, "to form the nucleus of an universal'brotherhood',of man,. without regard of ses, raco, creed, ca3te, or colour," was advanced'as something tending to carry mankind.
