Mr, M'lntosh, Who was appointed As-sistant-Inspector in May, 1901,. will rcsido at Clyde, in Central Otago, and his duties will be of tho same character. A similar change has already been made in the Northern Mining Division of tho Dominion. Under this re-arrangement Messrs. Tennent, Green, and Beilnio will be able to dsvoto their attention almost exclusively to the work pertaining to tho u of toal mines.

A Christchurch Press Association message states that at a meeting of the Education Board yesterday Mr. William Brock, M.A., . for the past four years headmaster., at Richmond, was appointed additional, inspector to' 1 the Board. Mr. Brock, who is forty-saven years of ago, lias had thirty-twC years' experience as a teacher. He was'at Hampstead for eleven years, Sydenham (assistant) nine years, Loburii -three, years, aud' Salt^ Water Creek two years. There were thirteen applicants for the position.
