TECHNICAL EDUCATION.
: AMENDED REGULATIONS. [BT -TELEQEi.ru. —I>RES3 ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, June 10. The acting director of tho Technical Department' of .the Auckland ■ Education Board in his report at to-day's meeting, .referred to the amonded regulations as regards technical education.-. The regulations provide that the-payment of tho grant in connection with tho' classes shall be reduced from payment on an attendance of 800 to that on an attendance of 400, and that tho grant per unit of attendance at the cookery classes shall be reduced from 15s. per head to 12s.'Gd. These regulations, tho Department had intimated, would not como into force until next year. It was pointed out that tho reductions would amount to a loss of £475 on the working of the collegos, Mr. Parr remarking that if this wero carried into effect they would have to seriously. consider tho question of keeping up these institutions. Tho scoretar}- (Mr. Rice) expressed his opinion that the reductions wcro duo to the increased cost of education every year. The- matter' was finally referred to the finance committee, it being also decided to ask the boards of other technioal collegos in the Dominion jyhat sfcans thay. intend to toko.
