Brace (Labour member of tho House of Commons for Glamorganshire South), on behalf of the ,Miners' Federation submitted a resolution in favour of an eight hours' day to an international congress at Paris, representing 859,251 miners. " Mr. Brace admitted that the English Eight Hours in Mines Bill had aroused tho increasing opposition of vested interests. The miners were now askirg Parliament to settlo tho matter, in preference to forcing a solution by trade union methods. But the present was tho last tirao of asking. The Congress unanimously adopted an eight hours' day, including surface workers, and further resolved that the minor's: day should be reduced to six hours in cases whero fire-damp or high temperatures' oxistcd, : in Britain, France, Belgium, or Germany,
