Mr. J. Mawson, lato of the Kamona, has joined the/Tarawera as.chief officer^ Mr. A. H. Clunie, late acting second officer of the Monowai,; has joined the Toroa as chief officer. A small scow or ketch entered the harbour about 8 o'clock last night, but her identity was not disclosed in consequence of the dark evening. H.M.S. Pioneer, according to advices received by Captain G. G. Smith, Naval Registrar, is expected to reach Wellington before the end of this month., .The vessel,is calling here to enable the Royal Naval, Reserve recruits to undergo drill. .
