RIFLE SCOOTING.

The Challenge Cup, presented by Major Bolton for competition amsiig companies of th« , No. 2 Wellington Battalion' of Mounted Rifles, was competed for at Eketahuna on Wednesday last. Only two -teams, Eketahuna (the present holders) and Mastorton, put. in ail appearanco. The Pahiatua corps failed t0.,-send a .team, ■ owing, it is said, to the iliort notice given. Before the match began, However, it was decided . that the Pahiatua cWrps could, if" it .chose, shoot oft' with the wiinting team at the ' Eketahuna range before the expiration of three ■ months.
