CRAWFORD MAKES A BIG SCORE. BZ TELEGRAPH —rHESS ASSOCIATION—COPTUIOnT. (Reo. June 7, 4.15 p.m.) London, June 6. In tho county cricket match Surrey vj. Somerset; J. N. Crawford (tlio punishing batsman and clover bowler, who visited Australia with tho last English team) scored 252. During part of the Australian tour, J. N. Crawford suffered from a strain, but ho finished up with fourth'place in the bowline avoragcs (G3 wickets at 24.45), getting more wickots than any othor English bowler. Barnes (21.91), Blythe (22.80), aud Fielder (24.16) wore abovo him. : In batting, Crawford was ninth with 26.52. Ho is essentially tlio allround man or tho Surroy eleven. As a batsman ho has great hitting powers, which he sometimes puts under restraint. As a bowler ho gets plenty of spin on the balls.
