SUDDEN DEATH. ' (BY TELEGRAPH. —PP.ESG ASSOCIATION.) Whangaroi, June 6. Thomas Johnson Drake, sergeant of police, expired suddenly at noon to-day in Dr. Yentry Smith's surgery, which is attached to the chemist's shop of H. C. Hcmus. At the conclusion of a Court case, about half-past eleven, the sergeant complained of pain in the heart, and wont shortly after to consult the doctor. He had only been in tiie surgery a minuto or so when ho suddenly placed his hands over his heart, with the words, " I'm going," and fell instantly dead. Ho leaves a, wifo and seven children. FOUND DEAD. Dunadin, Juno 6. The body of Patrick' Lynch, aged 48, a singlo man, was found in an open ditch in Macandrew Road, South- Duaedm, in 'soven or eight inches of water. It is supposed the man foil in when intoxicated. INJURED BY A PALL OF COAL. VVostport, June 6. Two men named Arbuckle and O'Neill wero injured by a fall of coal at the Mine Creek colliery. O'Neill was seriously hurt and Arbucklo slightly. The men wero buried for three-quarters of an hour before they were' rescued.'

INQUEST AT OHAKUNE.

[BY TELKQRAPH. —PKESS ASSOCIATION.] Ohakuno, Juno 6. An inquest on Joseph Brown, Susan Brown, and Eva Elizabeth Brown (baby), who wero killed by the falling of a tree on June 4 and 5, was held before the coroner (Mr. Aldridge). The following witnesses were examined W. Street, F. Boland, P. W. Furkert, and Sergeant Beattie. The following verdict was returned" That Mr. and Mrs. Brown and daughter met their deaths through a treo falling on them during a 'storm,'while in bed, and that it was purely accidental, no blame being attachable to anyone." ■' The mother, father, brothers, and sisters of *,ho late Mr.\ Brown were present. Two minor tram accidents occurred on Lanibton Quay on Saturday ovening. A married woman; named Olsen, injured her arm, and a man, named W. Phillips,, injured his kneo and hands. Both accidents occurred when the persons concerned were getting oil tho tramcars. ,
