■ It is understood tliat the Star Boating Club .Ball will take place at the end of this month. . Our Greymouth corespondent writes that on Friday night a spinsters' ball was held in Groytown, when ladies wore in full force, but; gentlemen were not too numerous. However,. a most pleasant timo was spent', and visitors wore 7 present from all over' tho district. ■' '; Miss Zoe'Poynter, who recently resigned hor position at the Hawera High School, and who is leaving for South Africa at the end!of the month, is at present staying with her parents in "Wellington. ' Mrs. -R. Lucas", who. has been paying a short visit to Wellington, returns to Nelson to-day.
