Yostcrday afternoon tho Hon; John Rigg, M.L.C., was married to Miss Paulino Margaret Isabel Ankctell, only- daughter of Mr. Charles Ankctell, of Mastcrton. Tho marriago took place at tho residence of Mrs.. Ankctell, in Brougham Street, and tho ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. Kennedy Elliott. The bride, who was married in nor travelling dress, was given away by her father. Tho Misses; Mary and'lnez Rigg, nieccs' of the bridegroom;: were tho bridesmaids. Mr. E. "W. Kane : was,best man. Mrs. and Aliss Booth,' of 1 Carterton, .who have been staying in town for tho last day or two, are leaving on a trip to the Islands. Thoywill bo away for some time, as tho trip is being undertaken for the benefit of Mrs. Booth's health. . Sirs. R. Maunsell has returned to To Nui from "Wellington, wliero she has : been the guest of her sister, Mrs: Avery, for some 'weeks. . It was a holiday audience that filled tho Opera House last night; and one saw many unfamiliar faces, visitors to 'Wellington. Among those present were Mrs. and Miss Bell/, Mrs: Dymock, Mrs. Harold Johnston, Dr. and Mrs. Young, Mrs. Gilruth, Miss Butts, Miss Scully, and Mrs. Knox > Mrs. Ernest Hadfield has returned from nor-visit to friends in Hawke's Bay.
