M'Nah, the Hon, Dr. Findlay, and the Hon. J. M'Gowan in Wellington. The General Manager of Railways .and heads of branches will return on Friday from inspecting ' northern lines. The Hon. R. M'Nab will remain in Wellington..until Friday week, when he will go to Ashburton to open tho A. and P. Show there on June 12. . From Ashburton,' the Minister will proceed South. Mr. H. Absolum. of the Agricultural Department's clerical stall, who has been filling the position ,of relieving clerk at TVaereugn for the past seven months, proceeds shortly, to take charge of the new office of the, Department at Hastings, Hawke's Bay. 4 -. Mr. TV. H. Turnbull has been appointed valuer of tho leasehold 'properties of the Wellington Hospital Trustees, in respect of which the leases will-fall in on July 19,1908, The Hon. T. K. Macdonald and Mr. Dwnii have been appointed valuers for i two of tho lessees concerned. , Mr. John Cashman, treasurer of the Australasian Federated Seamen's Union, was presented with a marble clock at last night's meeting of the Union, in recognition of his recent marriage and the valuable services he lias jrendered to the Union. Mr. Cashman has been treasurer of the Wellington branch since 1900. The presentation was uiade by Mr. W. T. Young, secretary.' 'Mr. H. E. Radcliffe, Chief Clerk of the Mines .Department, will be a candidate for > a seat on the Public Service Superannuation Board. Mr. Radcliffe has been oyer 23 years in the Service. It is probable that Mr. C. H. TV. Dixon, Chief Clerk of the Stamp Dopartment, who was nominated by the "Civil Sorvice Association for election to the Board, will be unable to stand. |; Our 'Palmerston North correspondent writes: —Mr. J. Dixon, of Feilditig, passed away at his-residence at Bunnythorpe yesterday.' Mr. Dixon came to .the Dominion about fifty years ago,' and was at one'time in business in' "Cuba "Street," Wellington, as a baker.- He Iwas v: foroe3',-' however,' to give up.business, owing to ill-health, and took up his residenco at Bunnythorpp. Ho was a prominent 'member, of tho local Methodist Church.
