The members of tho Anglo-Welsh football 1 team arrived this morning by the Maori, arid > wero met by the president of the Rugby s Union A. E. G. Rhodes), tho vice-presi-dent (Mr. G. H. Mason), and tho secretary 3 (Mr. W. G. Garrard). Tho team came on to j Christ-church, and left by tho express for . Dunedin. Mr. G. Tho British football team arrived in Dunedin to-night, and were enthusiastically welcomed by largo crowds on the platform, outside' the station, and along the streets. ' Tho footballers were met at Christchurch , by Mr. Geo. Thomson, as representing the New Zealand Rugby Union, and at Palmerston by Messrs. J. Hutchison (president of tho Otago Rugby Union), P. Priest (vice- [ president), and J. Duncan (one of the committee). Tho visitors were met at Dunedin ' station by drags, and driven to their hotels j amid cheers. This welcome was purely in- . formal. The official welcome takes place to- ' morrow. At present the weather indications are favourable for Saturday's match. Tho North Island members of the New ' Zealand team will leave for Dunedin on Monday evening. \ Dr. Crawford, of Invercargill, has been ' appointed to referee tho contest, Otago v. , tho Britishers, on Saturday. ' It was decided at last night's meeting of the Management Committee of tho New Zealand .Rugby, Union that the charges for ad--1 mission in connection with tho first test ' match between New Zealand and. tho Britishers at Dunedin be 55., 35., and 2s. [ NEW ZEALAND RUCBY UNION. 1 MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COM- ; MITTEE. The Management Committee of the New s Zealand Rugby Union met last night. There i wore present: Mr. R. M. Isaacs (in the i chair), and Messrs. J. Laughton, A. Laurenson, E. Wylie, H. Kelly, and F. G. Wallburton. Tho Wellington Union wrote stating that it had suspended a member of the Railway Football Club for two playing Saturdays. An application from the Marlborough Union for a vote of £25 for tho purpose of fostering school football was received. It was agreed to set up a sub-committee to deal with all applications for grants. Tho Marlborough Union forwarded a challenge to meet Auckland for the Ranfurly Shield. It was resolved that the Auckland Union bo requested to- suggest a date for tho match. , Tho Southland Union' notified that it had suspended a member of the Southern. Club for two years and a momber of tho frar Club till tho end of the season for illeg&l striking. Tho Otago Union suggested that a match, Otago v. New Zealand, should be played at Dunedin on Juno 3 as a practice game prior to the first "test" on the 6th. One of the members of the Committee thought it would bo too risky to hold a practice match. It was decided to inform the Union that such a match was not considered desirable. Tho Secretary of tho New South Wales Union wrote stating' with regard to tho projected establishment of an' Imperial Council, thai tho South African Board, who thought tho proposal premature, held that steps should 1 first be taken to obtain representation on the Committee of the English Union. His Council had decided to ask that South Africa, New. Zealand; 'Queensland, and New South Wales should bo given representation on tho Committee of the. Rugby Football Union. It was. decided that consideration of the communication be deferred until the conference is held with Mr. Harnett, manager of tho British team, with reference to proposed alterations in the laws of tho game. Also that the Now South Wales Union be informed that the Union is in sympathy with its proposals. RUCBY TEAMS. Third Grade. St. John's v. ASSOCIATION. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. At a meeting of tho Management Commits toe of tho Wellington Football Association, held in tho Y.M.C.A. Rooms last evening there wero present:—Messrs. B. li. Salmon (in the chair), H. Waters, J. Davidson, P. Bowmaker, A. Barnett, R. Mackav, and A. William's (hon. soc.). The Swifts Club was cautioned for having played a boy over ago in the junior third division match against Marist Bros. B. As regards the disputed junior league second division mateh, it was decided to replay the match at the ond of the season if necessary. An application from tho Swifts-Club to bo reliovcd of their fixture on Saturday, 11th July, and also the application of the Hastings Club, were held over. The colours of the Marist School Boysgreen and white hoops—wero confirmed. It was decided that the postponed junior third division match St. Paul's v. Y.M.C.A. bo played at the end of the season. A letter was rcceivod from the Town Clerk stating that the custodians of Newtown Park and the Basin Resorve had to uso their own discretion as regards the postponement of matches on thoso grounds. The referee in the match Thistle v. Y.M.C.A. reported that tho ground was not marked out at Newtown Park, and that the goal posts wero broken. He further reported that a player in tho Thistle team left tho field without giving notice. Tho explauation of tho player in question was considered satisfactory. TEAMS FOR SATURDAY. A number of ■ the club's supporters aro also helping the movement, and promise to give financial as--5 sistance when it is needed. A substantial sum is already in hand, alt-hough the idea was only formulated at the beginning of the season. A .meeting of the club was held at " •^ le . Don" rooms last evening, when a committee of seven, Messrs. C. M'lntyre, S. Luke, sen., S. Luke, jun., W. Gosling, F., ' Cooper, F. Henderson, and W. Flack, was ! set up to control the gymnasium movement', i . It was also decided that the club should ■ play a match with the Mast-erton Albion • Club at Wellington on Wednesday nest.
