TRAMWAY TROUBLE.

At a meeting of tho Trades and Labour Council to-night, a motion was proposed that the Tramway Union should be congratulated on the settlement of the strike, whereupon one unionist said lie had ev<yy. sympathy where sympathy' was due,, but he' did not think there should have been a strike jtist because a. man had been dismissed without a. reason./ Another delegate took a similar view. _ These two delegates contrived to talk out time. Mr. Rosaer (the president) indignantly closed tho' meeting without putting the motion'. . Auckland, May 23. Messrs. P. M. Hansen arid E. H. Morris (traffic inspector) have been appointed re'prosenta.tives of the • 'Auckland Electric Tramways Company on the Board of Arbitration* to settle the dispute between the Company and its employees. The Union's representatives arc Mr. Henry Carter (motor- - man) and Mr. Geo. Sherry (conductor). These four will meet shortly to appoint an umpire before hearing evidence, and in the event of failure to come to an agreement as to who shall act, the appointment will bo made by the Governor.
