Tarrant, tho ex-Victorian,, 157. Tho pair put on 203 for the first wicket. P. P. Warner topped the batting averages of Middlesex last season with 1353 runs, and an average of 46.65. P. A. Tarrant was next to him in aggregate (1034), and was fifth in averages with 33.35, beside being at tho head of the bowling averages with 115 wickets at 15.20 runs apiece. Tarrant was doing great work for Victoria in Australia during the summer just closed, when the new English double-season rule put a stop to his play south of the Lino.
