; EDIiCATION BOARDS' VIEWS. Repltes Have now b'een received from almost all the Education Boards, which-were asked, if they were .willing tb have' copies ot tho Decalogue hung in the "public schools. AH the Boards throughout • New Zealand • gave favourable replies.. The following is a synopsis of answers,:— •-The Auckland Education Board'offer no objection to copies of tho Ten Command- ; ments,. being displayed in the schools of the ; district. ■ '.'.' ■■ ■ The ■ Hawke's; Bay Board, state that anv school may exhibit a table of the Teh Gommawlmcnts on the walls. • The Otao> Board proposo to obtain a legal-opinioi. as to their powers under tho Act to provide and display in their schools . the charts referred to. • Tho| Groymouth Education Board- state that in their principal schools tho clergy .• givo religious instruction. They suggest communication with tho School Committees or the Grey district. Tho Wanfeanui Board merely acknowlcdeed receipt of the letter.' The Westland Board deferred consideration. ' In the meantime tho Government printer is to bo asked for specimens and " prices of tho . Commandment charts. , The Wellington Board liave instructed teachers to exhibit tho Commandments on , the walls. : . The Notth _ Canterbury and South Canterbury Boards thoroughly approve. of the proposal, but prefer to give discretion to the School Committees. ' ■' ' It.-is understood that the Southland Board are favourable, and arc procuring copies of the chart.
