- : .- :—-d— A special meeting of tho Board was held at the Upper Hutt Town Hall on AVedndsday night to rrlako the necessary "special'order" in connection witli tho "Upper Hutt General Bylaw, 1908.",The'by-law is of a most comprehonsivo character, and combines the provisions of tho existing Hunterville and Johnsonvillo bylaws,. together with a number of-clauses relative to sanitation and adopted from the .Wellington city regulations. ... ;.An,ordinary meeting of the Board was held after the special meeting had terminated, ani a,;number of pressing matters received full attention. It was decided to seek tho co-opera-tion, of the Health Department in bringing into lino a feiv Trantham householders who " were not-conforming to tho Board's regulation relative to nightsoil disposal. ! The' Board em- : ; phasised; its decision that no nightsoil should Be permitted to be buried_ within tho town district,' save at the established depot, and in- ■ sisted that. the. contractor should call at every house once a week. It was decided that proceedings a!t" law will follow in cases of defiance or evasion. Tho report of tho Works Committee showed that tho repairing of .'tho main road was proceeding satisfactorily, arid that the threo roadmen were-doiiig good, work. Tho clerk was instructed to interview all parties concerned where wator from buildings ivns discharged upon footwnys, and also, to warn business people to .ccaso placing sweepings, etc., on the roadways. Tho cleric reported relative to tho proposed basis of adjustment of accounts with tho Hutt County Council. The matter of a share in tho countv office, asset ivas discussed, and it : was decided to ,tnko whatever action was deemed desirable later on. Tho clerk was instructed to inquire if . town districts wero''eligiblo as corporate bodies working under tho Municipal Corporations Act,'lßoo, to join the Municipal Association,'and bp 1 represented at the coming sonferonca. ' The. matter of certain lamps requiring repair v,;as referred; to the Works Committee. Accounts-amounting to >£17 17s. 3d. wero passed .. for. payment. ,
