COLLIE CLUB MEETING.
A NORTH ISLAND ASSOCIATION ' FORMED. [BY TELEGIUrn. —SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.^ L Masterton, May 28. A meeting of delegates representing the Masterton, Dannovirke, Porangnhau, Moaivhango, Awakino, and Hawera Collie. Clubs was held at the Club Hotel this evening, Mr. A. C. Morton presiding. The Chairman, in his opening remarks, explained that some clubs in tho North Island felt that an association governing tho whole of the clubs in existence was desirable, and the meeting had been called for the purpose of considering tho matter. The object of such an association would bo to regulate the dates for tho trials held by each club, and to ensure tho payment of fees and subscriptions by competitors. In the past men competing at tho trials 'had failed on many occasions to pay their entranco fees, and tho clubs with which they were defaulters had no remedy for recovering tho amounts due. Uith a governing body it would be different, ihe names of failed to pay.their subscriptions would be posted.with the secrefi? 03 10 clubs, and, on the 'other hand, tho association would oo a means of improving the present standard of sheep dogs, and this. was much desired. It was proposed also, in the event of tho formation of. the Association, to hold championship trials at each place, the timo of each meeting to bo decided upon later. There were ten clubs which would affiliate, and it was proposed that an annual subscription of £5 from each club would moro than cover tho yearly expenses. It was proposed by Mr. H. Guisford, Dannevirke, and seconded bv Mr. J. Grant, Porangahau, that an association be formed, to be known as the North Island Collio Club Association. s Messrs. W. L. Faulkner, J. M'Leay, Langdale, W. Reside, and W. Welch favoured the formation of an association,.. but thought that tho Masterton Club was not strong enough financially' to affiliate immediately. | Mr. G. Sykes, .Masterton', 'supported', the proposal in its entirety, stating that it would bn the means of improving the financial posirn C ' U ' J ' n 10 North Island. I Tho motion was carried unanimously, and it was decided that the affiliation fee be £5. Mr. G. Sykes was appointed secretary, and Messrs. A. C. Morton and Gaisford were deputed to draft out rules for tho Association and to submit tliem for approval to tho re-, spectivc clubs. A, committee, comprising one delegate from each chib was elected ns a'general committee, three me<nibcrs to form a quorum. It was decided to hold tho first meeting of the Association in Masterton' in' tho first week in Jajiuary.
