Miss ■A. Bagley has been appointed an Assistant-Inspector of Privato Hospitals and Midw ives. Slib was trained in the Duncdin Hospital, and was tho first pupil to obtain the certificate of midwifery in Now Zealand. Yesterday afternoon Mrs. G. F. C. Campbell, and Mr. Campbell, president of the New Zealand Rugby Union, gave a reception at Day's Bay House in honour of- tho visiting British football team. A number of guests went across by the Cobar, and as tho sea was calm and the sky had cleared at i midday, the outing was a most enjoyable one. Day s Bay House was gaily decorated with bunting in honour of' tho occasion, and within the floral decorations were white flowers intertwined with ribbons of red anil blue. A band supplied music .during the afternoon. Mrs." Campbell wore a very graceful frock of palo blue and white striped silk muslin, with trimmings of lace, embroidered with palo pink and bluo silk. Her hat was of green glace, trimmed with bands of velvet of the same shade and pals blue daisies. Lady Ward was in black, with sealskin coat and black hat; Miss Prouse, who accompanied her, wore a cream frock and furs; Miss' Richmond was in black with picturesque violot hat; Miss Cobb, plumcoloured costume, black hat; Mrs. Fitchett, bluo, tweed coat and skirt;' Mrs. Chatficld, green and black striped coat and skirt, black hat with plume; Mrs. Rankine-Brown, grey frock with sealskin coat; Miss Butts, brown costume; Miss B. Miles, .brown costumo, brown hat with roses; Mrs. Stott, dark bluo tailor-made; Miss H. Miles, green coat and skirt, hat trimmed with' bluo; Miss Fell, brown costume, .brown , hat. Among other guests were Mrs. Reid and Miss Reid, Miss Goro/.Mrs. Hacoh, Miss Ewen, Mrs. Field, Mrs. Izard, 'Miss B au °bope, Miss "Watson, Mrs. Zohrab, : Mrs. and Miss C. Beauchamp. Most of the men present Wero members of tho British team or local clubs. Mr. Harnett •was there, and also Dr. .Newman, Colonel Bauchop, and Mr. Collio. : Mrs. • Collie leaves for & visit. to England by the Turakina, which sails on Juno 6. Miss Tondall has gone to Christchurch for a fortnight. 'The spirit of camaraderie which exists amongst the sterner members of the journalistic fraternity (writes an Auckland correspondent) hovers over tho more humble if not less aspiring of its feminine devotees, as was evidenced by the welcome given. Miss Crichton-Imrie, of. Wellington, . who has been visiting Auckland prior to taking up an appointment at Palmcrston North. A number of representative ladies of "ink-sling-ingl' tendencies entertained Miss Imrio at an afternoon tea at the Piccadily on Saturday last. A charming recess was cosily curtained off, and a. most delightful time was spent..
